A beautiful Spring evening in DC and the blossoms are near peak. Our friends, the Japanese, gifted us these cherry trees in 1911

Wednesday, 12:34 pm EST, April 4, 2007, the original 1909 trees can be found between the 8 and 9 holes on the White Course of East Potomac Golf course. They are a 5 minute walk from the Tidal Basin.

Rob DeFeo thinks that the plot these trees given as a gift by the government of Japan. U.S. inspectors in San Francisco found insects and disease on the trees. Most of the trees were burned, but some were sent to the Bureau of Plant Industry in Washington DC.
