Thirteen for a reason.

"Hence every occurrence of the number thirteen, and likewise of every multiple of it, stamps that with which it stands in connection with rebellion, apostasy, defection, corruption, disintegration, revolution, or some kindred idea." (Bullinger, E.W. Number in Scripture, Kregel Publications, (c)1967, p. 205).

Was not the founding of America in REBELLION of England?

In the Nation's Capitol the father of "ONE nation under God," George Washington, is memorialized in the rotunda ceiling on a http://dcpages.com/gallery/US-Capitol-Visitor-Center/DSC00413.jpg.html mural entitled, The Apotheosis of Washington. The mural pictures the nations first father surrounded by 13 maidens.

Pyramidion

The monument has a pyramid shaped roof called the Pyramidion. The Pyramidion is made of 13 layers of stones. The 12 bottom layers are of equal thickness. The 13th stone is at the apex and is a small solid stone pyramidion. The 13 layers represent the 13 states.
On the very top of the monument and on top of the small solid stone pyramidion, which is the 13th layer, is a 9" aluminum cap.
In total, the Pyramidion is 55 feet tall. It serves as a roof.
The hollow shaft of the monument, which is beneath the Pyramidion, is 500 feet and 1/8 inch tall.
People have used the word Pyramidion for the entire monument, which is more accurately described as an obelisk with a Pyramidion (a pyramid shaped) roof.
The monument is an architectural statement by Forefathers that the government of the United States was created as an act of divine providence and that George Washington was a man of destiny.
