Mystery in DC

Where is everybody? And how in the world are those flags flying in opposite directions at the same time?

Pyramidion at top of the obelisk weighs 172 tons.

Thirteen for a reason.

"Hence every occurrence of the number thirteen, and likewise of every multiple of it, stamps that with which it stands in connection with rebellion, apostasy, defection, corruption, disintegration, revolution, or some kindred idea." (Bullinger, E.W. Number in Scripture, Kregel Publications, (c)1967, p. 205).

Was not the founding of America in REBELLION of England?

In the Nation's Capitol the father of "ONE nation under God," George Washington, is memorialized in the rotunda ceiling on a http://dcpages.com/gallery/US-Capitol-Visitor-Center/DSC00413.jpg.html mural entitled, The Apotheosis of Washington. The mural pictures the nations first father surrounded by 13 maidens.

Ten days after President Washington's death in 1799 a Congressional committee recommended a monument be built to honor our Nation's first President.

What would a building like this be good for?

It is like an office building without any usable square footage, with a top floor observation area. It looks like a lookout tower to me. Why else would this structure have been designed? Perhaps, merely for symbolic reasons. It looks just like the Egyptian Obelisks that were erected in honor of Pharaohs and later moved to their conqueror's homeland as a symbol of power.

Between two large spruce trees stands the Washington Monument located at the west end of the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

Wave hello honey!

It looks like the tree on the right is waving to the monument. Can I use a copy of this pic for my school assignment? Since the monument is public property, it the picture also?
