The Society of Cincinnati

The Society of Cincinnati is the nation's oldest patriotic organization, founded in 1783 by the officers of the Continental Army to perpetuate friendships forged in war and to preserve the memory of the American Revolution. The modern Society of Cincinnati, with headquarters at Anderson House in Washington, DC maintains that historic fellowship and promotes scholarship on the Revolutionary War as well as popular appreciation of the contributions made by American and French officers to the achievement of American independence.
