Washington Capitals Training Camp

The Washington Capitals have their training camp in Odenton, Maryland. It is free to the public and there are two hour-long scrimmages and a practice afterwards. Fans got a rare opportunity to meet all of their favorite players in a fan-friendly atmosphere. DCpages own Kostas Pontikis will follow the CAPS this season starting from training camp and ending hopefully with the team winning the Stanley Cup.

Naval Academy (Navy) Football

Stanford and Navy met tonight for the first time since the two schools battled in 1965 which resulted in a 7-7 tie. Attendance announced as 35,670, the fourth-largest crowd to see a game at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium behind: 1. 36,172 vs. Air Force (Oct. 11, 1997), 2. 36,009 vs. West Virginia (Oct. 3, 1998) and 3. 35,753 vs. Air Force (Oct. 9, 1993). Marco Nelson scored three touchdowns for the Midshipmen and Karlos Whittaker ran for 110 yards on seven carries, becoming the first freshman in Navy history to have a 100-yard rushing game. The mission of the Naval Academy focuses on developing midshipmen morally, mentally and physically in order to provide leaders of character for the Navy and Marine Corps.

On a cloudy saturday evening in June, at the Richmond International Raceway, Scott Dixon held the lead with out a problem in the SunTrust Indy Race. The only thing that stopped Dixon was weather at the 206th lap. It was the first time in the IRL history that a driver has held the lead in every lap. This was Dixon 4th victory.

Many came to watch Hall of Fame head coach Joe Gibbs in action for the first time since his return to the team last January. The first group of fans arrived as early as 4:30 in the morning.
