Some peripheral demands, such as raising taxes on the rich, raising taxes on corporations, ending corporate welfare, support for trade unionism, and protecting Medicare and Social Security in their current forms are expressed by some participants as they fear the country is headed in the complete wrong direction with the middle and lower classes being marginalized by big money corporations and the Republican Congress.
