In the second season of his second tenure with the Skins, Joe Gibbs has brought Washington back in the playoffs with a win over Philly 31 to 20. For the depleted Eagles, it was a fitting end to a miserable season. With McNabb and several other key starters sidelined by injuries and Terrell Owens banished from the team, Philadelphia was undermanned and overmatched. Following four straight trips to the NFC championship game, Philadelphia finished in last place in the NFC East with its worst record since going 5-11 in 1999, McNabb's rookie season and Andy Reid's first as Eagles coach.
