Washington Redskins vs. Arizona Cardinals

The Redskins got an early gift from Santa this year to thwart the Cardinals miraculous comeback attempt. A slight North wind pushed Kicker Neil Rackers 55-yard field goal attempt slight left. Warner struggled in the first half, throwing a pair of interceptions. The Redskins converted those turnovers into 14 points. Safety Sean Taylor's interception at the Arizona 25 set up Clinton Portis' 2-yard run with 4:12 left in the first quarter. With seven minutes left in the first half, London Fletcher picked off Warner and returned the interception 27 yards to give the Redskins a 14-0 lead. Jason Campbell had a lacklustre game for Washington, completing just 12-of-18 passes for 95 yards, while Portis was held to 43 yards on 13 carries. Redskins defense let the Cardinals back into the game by committing needless dead-ball fouls after twice stopping Arizona during a long drive that resulted in a touchdown. Arizona scored twice in the fourth quarter to get within two points. Needing a 2-point conversion, the Cardinals snapped the ball directly to receiver Anquan Boldin in shotgun formation. Boldin scrambled to the right, and with nowhere to run, threw feebly toward Larry Fitzgerald. Safety LaRon Landry broke up the pass. But Rackers made the ensuing onsides kick skip high in the air, and the Cardinals recovered the ball. Warner re-entered the game to complete two quick passes to Bryant Johnson, setting up Rackers' 55-yard field goal attempt. Rackers, who ended the first half by getting into a face mask tug-of-war with cornerback Carlos Rogers after the blocked extra point, nearly clinched the game with a winning kick. I do believe Santa.
