The Animal Photo Library is a new online collection of images from the National Zoo in Washington, D.C. Currently, only a few mammals photos are available of gorillas, orangutans,pandas, bears, and red wolves. The site looks very promissing, and should cover many more species in the future.

Evenings are the ideal time to explore the Aquarium this summer! From July 1 through August 31, the Aquarium celebrates Aquarium Nights, lengthening its hours and selling tickets until 8 p.m. every day. Once inside the building, visitors can linger until 10 p.m., enjoying more than 10,000 Aquarium creatures. Included in the admission price are the dolphin show, Coastal Connections: Dolphins at Our Shores, and the spectacular new aquatic and terrestrial exhibit: Amazon River Forest.

Situated in the basement of the U.S. Department of Commerce Building, it is the nation's oldest aquarium, established in 1873 and at its present location since 1932. There are 50 tanks containing over 200 species of salt and fresh water fish, including piranha, shark, eel, and Japanese carp; also some endangered species.

Occasionally, they have a friendly tug-of-war over a piece of choice bamboo.

The Salisbury Zoo, located in Salisbury, Maryland, was officially born in 1954 when some animals were placed on permanent exhibition in the City Park. The zoo's present form resulted from improvements made in the 1970's. The zoo now provides naturalistic enclosures for almost 500 species native to North, Central and South America.
