Applewood Farm

http://www.applewoodfarm.org

Over 20 years ago Applewood Farm began selling Christmas trees. Since that time the farm has evolved into a place where families love to create special memories by enjoying a unique day in the country. In an effort to add to the enjoyment of our visitors, in 1997 we decided to add live reindeer to the growing list of animals at the farm. Hollyberry, our first Alaskan reindeer, arrived on the farm during that summer. In the Spring of 2000 we purchased a bull (male) and 3 cows (females).

Species for Christmas Tree Planting in Virginia

http://www.ext.vt.edu/pubs/forestry/420-082/420-082.html

Christmas trees can be grown throughout the region, and growers are located in all regions. Selection of the proper species, however, is important. Soil conditions and general climate are the primary considerations influencing species selection, but other characteristics, such as consumer preference, species characteristics and requirements, condition of the planting site, and the presence or absence of pests, also play an important role.
