Korean War Veterans Memorial

http://www.nps.gov/kwvm/home.htm

June 25, 1950 the 38th Parallel marked the beginning of a war that was to be like no other. Many years have passed since the end of the Chosin Reservoir Campaign in North Korea. The American public has all but forgotten the violence and valor that took place there at the fighting man's level. The fiftieth anniversary of the Korean War gives both the armed forces and the nation an opportunity to honor those veterans who served in that bitter war. The battle continues along the present demilitarized zone.

The Vietnam Women's Memorial, Washington D.C- honoring women who served in Vietnam

http://www.vietnamwomensmemorial.org/pages/framesets/setwomen.html

On Veteran's Day 1983 the Vietnam Women's Memorial was dedicated to honor the nine military nurses and 58 civilian women who died in Vietnam. There has never been an official count of how many women actually served in Vietnam, but a reasonable estimate is thought to be about 7,500. That may not seem like a large number, but veterans would not hesitate to agree that their role was far disproportionate to their numbers.

The Women's Memorial

http://www.arlingtoncemetery.net/womens.htm

One good test of a new work of architecture is the degree to which it improves its surroundings. By this measure, the Women in Military Service for America Memorial is a resounding success. Even though it is a bit too reticent, the memorial enhances an already splendid setting in a number of ways. You approach via Memorial Drive, on that unforgettable visual axis between the Lincoln Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery, with the Greek columns of Arlington House on the green western hill. The new memorial -- being dedicated today -- is at the base of the hill.
