Today this house overlooking the Potomac River and Washington, D.C., is preserved as amemorial to General Lee, a man who gained respect of Americans in both the North and South.

The largest federal building in Washington, DC and the only one open to the public, the building is home to the DC Visitor Information Center, Palomino Retaurant Rotisserie Bar, a 1,000 seat food court and a 2,000 car parking garage. The Capitol Steps, a political satire troupe, will be performing every Saturday evening at the building. Free tours of the building are offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 11am at the 14th Street entrance. The building is open daily from 6am until 2am.
