Khan Mohammed

Divine Books of God were revealed in this month. Prophet Abraham received his scriptures on the first and third of this month; Prophet David received the Psalms on the twelfth of this month; Prophet Moses received the Torah on the sixth day and Jesus received the Bible on the twelfth day of this month of Ramadan . Also Prophet Muhammad received the Holy Al-Quran in this month and specially on the " Night of Power ", called Lai-Latul-Qadr, the 27th night of this month.

Muslims believe that Prophet Muhammad said, "...indeed the month of Ramadan is the month of patience, and the reward for patience is Paradise; it is the month of sympathy with God's creations; it is a month wherein the provisions are increased. Whosoever feeds a poor or fasting person, for him there shall be forgiveness of his sins and emancipation from the fire of Hell. And in this month, endeavour to perform four things: (1) Glorify your Lord, Allah , (2) ask forgiveness for your sins excessively, (3) beg your Lord for entry into Paradise, and (4) seek refuge with your Lord from the fire of Hell."

The month of Ramadan is a spiritual month of prayers and fasting for thirty days. The month commences with the sighting of the new moon, i.e. the crescent, and ends also by the sighting of the crescent. Muslims observe this month by fasting from food, drink, and cohabitation with their wives in the day and worship in the Mosques at night asking forgiveness for their sins and begging permission for entry into Paradise. The fast is broken after dusk by eating dates and water.

Fasting symbolizes a person's loyalty and appreciation to his Creator , Allah. When a person fasts from the basic necessecities of life, it shows that everything one possess including ones' life is a gift and a blessing from the Almighty Lord. The fasting period also gives appreciation for what one has and shows a person that one should help those in poverty.

The fasting month ends with a day of celebration called, Eid-ul-Fitr . It is stated that on the day of Eid Almighty Lord says, "O my Angels, what is the reward of that worker who has done his job very well?" They reply: "O our Lord, his reward should be given to him in full." To this God replies, "O my Angels, verily my servants have duly performed their obligatory duty, thereafter they set forth to Eid prayer raising their voices in praise of Me. I swear by My Honor, by My Grandeur, by My Grace, and by My Exalted Position, that I shall surely answer the prayers of these people." Thereafter God addresses the people: "Go forth, I have forgiven your sins, and have replaced your evil deeds with righteous ones." These people return from the Prayer in such a condition that their sins stand forgiven."
