For the 2001 White House holiday theme, Laura Bush chose "Home for the Holidays" to celebrate the joy of family and loved ones. "Because this year's holday season follows a national tragedy, both home and family have speacial meaning to all Americans," said Mrs. Bush. "Gatherings of loved ones - familiar faces in familiar places - can be a tremendous source of strength and reassurance during this season of rememberance and goodwill."

 | This Christmas we remember those who are without their loved ones. They continue to be in our hearts and prayers. May they experience peace, and may they find hope. And as we again celebrate Christ's birth, may the glorious light of God's goodness and love shine forth from our land.
