Walkersville Southern Railroad
The Walkersville station is a "turn of the century" small-town railroad station built by the Pennsylvania Railroad in the late 1800’s. Next to the station is a small freight house built during the same period. The excursion train runs south from Walkersville, through the Walkersville Community Park, and past Fountain Rock, site of a 100-year old lime kiln. Coal for heating the limestone was brought in by rail and the finished product was shipped back out to farmers locally and taken north into Pennsylvania. This was once a major industry for the Frederick area. Remnants of the old railroad operation there are still visible and the kiln itself has recently been restored by the Frederick County Parks Department. The ride is leisurely, with speeds limited to fifteen miles per hour. Passengers may choose an open-air excursion car, our remodeled passenger coach, or the caboose. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Excursions will be held rain or shine!

Western Maryland Scenic Railroad
The Western Maryland Scenic Railroad round trip excursion is an exciting mix of mountain top scenery and rich transportation history. Leaving Cumberland, the route travels west through a breach in the Allegheny Mountains over an iron truss bridge, around Helmstetter's Horseshoe Curve and through the 914 foot Brush Tunnel under Piney Mountain. Climbing grades up to 2.8% on the 16 mile trek, the route follows the former Western Maryland Railroad right-of-way, then joins the old Cumberland & Pennsylvania Railroad, ultimately reaching Frostburg, the restored Frostburg Depot Restaurant, and the Thrasher Carriage Museum.
