Chesapeake Beach, MD Map
From Washington's Capital Beltway (I-95/495), take Route 4 south into Calvert County. From the Baltimore Beltway (I-695), take Rt. 301 south to Route 4 south. Just across the Calvert County line, take a left on Route 260. Proceed approximately 5 miles to Chesapeake Beach. When Route 260 forces a left or a right turn at a stop light – and you see the Chesapeake Bay straight ahead – you're there. Turn left to go to North Beach. Turn right to visit the Chesapeake Beach Water Park, the Chesapeake Railway Museum, the Northeast Community Center and most points of interest in Cheapeake Beach.

Deep Creek Lake State Park & NRMA
Deep Creek Lake State Park lies just west of the Allegheny Front on a large plateau known as the Tablelands or Allegehy Highlands. Its location at the southernmost end of Meadow Mountain places it west of the Eastern Continental Divide and within the Mississippi River watershed. It gets its name from Deep Creek Lake, a hydroelectric project constructed on Deep Creek in the 1920's by the Youghiogheny Hydroelectric``Company.

Fort Belvoir, VA Map
Fort Belvoir has a scenic site on the Accotink Bay. The base is open to anyone and has a beautiful grass rigging area that is very clean. The bay is shallow, and gives access to the Potomac.

Fort Smallwood State Park, MD Map
Directions: This can be a little confusing because there are two state parks in Maryland called "Smallwood". One is on the Potomac river pretty much straight across from Mason Neck. The other one, and the one where I go windsurfing is on the mouth of the Patapsco river near the entrance to Baltimore harbor.

Gunpowder State Park, MD
Gunpowder Falls State Park (nearly 18,000 acres in Harford and Baltimore Counties) was established to protect the stream valleys of the Big and Little Gunpowder Falls and the Gunpowder River, which begins at Days Cove where the Big and Little Gunpowders converge. A variety of topography exists in this long, narrow park, from tidal marshes and wetlands to steep, rugged slopes.

Herrington Manor State Park
Located within Garrett State Forest in Garrett County, Herrington Manor State Park's development began in the 1930's with the aid of the Civilian Conservation Corps. A 53-acre lake was formed by damming Herrington Creek, and ten cabins were erected on a wooded knoll above the lake.

Directions: Mason Neck State Park is a wildlife refuge off the Lorton exit of I95 south of DC. Take the exit on Lorton Road, and turn north to intersection with Route 1. Go south on Route 1 to traffic light at Gunston Rd, turn left, and go down Gunston Road about about 4 miles. Follow the ranger's instructions to the cartop ramp.
