Alfredo S. Bartholomaus, who was born and raised in Chile, founded Billington Imports Inc. in 1985. As a young man, Alfredo hitchhiked to the United States in pursuit of his dream to bring the best wines of Chile to the United States. This vision became a reality when Alfredo met Don Carlos Cousino and their partnership planted the seed for Alfredo's quest. Today, Cousino Macul sets the standard for excellence in Chilean wine and many critics consider its vines to be "the first growth of Chile".

Started in 1949 by our grandfather Max Schneider and our father Abe Genderson, there were only two employees: Esther and Charlotte (our grandmother and mother). Today we have 8 full-time Consultants in the wine department.
