- Reston Town Center Grand Prix Bicycle Race
- The Reston Town Center Grand Prix is the toughest, most spectator-friendly criterium on the 2002 Mid-Atlantic bicycle racing schedule. Featuring the region's top men and women racers competing for thousands in cash and prizes, all races will be held, rain or shine, on a demanding six-corner, 1.25 kilometer (3/4-mile) circuit through the heart of the Town Center.
The Reston Town Center Grand Prix will be staged in the manner of a 'town square' or 'downtown' event, with music, race commentary, and a festival atmosphere. Races will start and finish at the center of Market Street, adjacent to the Pavilion. Individual races will be fast-paced and will last between 30 and 90 minutes, depending on field and skill level, which range from professional and elite cyclists to amateurs. Speeds in excess of 30 miles per hour will be common.
