Featured ListingsAngie MillerWhen she was 15, Angie started writing and performing her own songs in local coffeehouses and community events. Her mentor and guitar teacher urged her to get out in front of a live audience. "I remember being the opener one night at a place in Ellicott City and I could hear the headline group warming up in the other room on their guitars," recalls Angie. "I walked in and realized it was just one person playing one guitar: Michael Hedges. That kind of musicianship makes you either want to quit, or inspires you to work harder." She didn’t quit, but has gone on to tour the mid-Atlantic region, playing clubs, colleges, and festivals, sharing the bill as an acoustic solo act with artists such as Richie Havens, Kristen Hirsch and Marty Jones. She has co-headlined with Deanna Bogart at Washington D.C.’s Barns at Wolftrap and her full band has appeared at music festivals with national acts such as David Wilcox, Aimee Mann, Nils Lofgren and Danny Gatton. In 1996, Big Mo Records (Danny Gatton, The Nighthawks) released her debut CD which received national airplay. A new full-band production CD is now in the works, due to be out in the fall of 2001.
