Virginia Lottery
Of each dollar spent by players of the Virginia Lottery approximately 50-55% goes back to the players in the form of prizes. Approximately 5% goes to the retailers who sell Virginia Lottery tickets. The Lottery can spend up to 10% on expenses, however that expenditure has been approximately 7% or lower over the Virginia Lottery's history. Last, but most certainly not least, the Lottery has turned over every penny of its profits, an average of 35% on the dollar, to the Commonwealth of Virginia.
