Scandia DC is a Scandinavian Folk Dance Group serving the Washington DC metropolitan area. We are dedicated to the enjoyment of Norwegian and Swedish couple turning dances. Here is your opportunity to learn and do Scandinavian couple dances. Come and join us in dancing a large variety of dances including Gammaldans such as hambo, schottish, snoa (polka), mazurka, pols, reinlender, and Scandinavian waltz. Most sessions begin with a beginner's half hour that concentrates on the basic steps of one of the Gammal dances. Then one or two featured dances are taught before the open dancing begins. There is usually live music accompanying the dancing.
