Bacchus Restaurant
No one knows appetizers better than the Lebanese, who snack on them at breakfast and build entire buffets around them later in the day. And no local restaurants lavish more attention on mezze, as the spread is called, than Bacchus's two venerable outposts of Lebanese cooking, whose appetizer lists stretch to some 50 choices.

Bistro Med
Alexa Beattie from Washington Post says: "The food at Bistro Med is simply delicious. Adana kebab, a long, hollow sausage of charbroiled ground lamb that can be rolled up in a pita with grilled peppers and onions, is precisely what you might buy from a stall in a Turkish bazaar."``Located in the heart of Georgetown (3288 M St.), Bistro Med offers a great variety of appetizers and entrees. Friday and Saturday nights live music will accompany this unique dining experience. Late night breakfast is available from Thursday to Saturday between 11.00pm-5.00am.

Isabella's Taverna & Tapas Bar
The possibilities stretch to nearly 50 hot and cold tapas, and their descriptions pull readers in like a good story. There are plates for the bold: anchovies served on shaved onions, and shrimp spiked with chilies. There are also combinations for the less adventurous: bite-size meatballs and a tortilla espanola, that classic Spanish "omelet" of layered sliced potatoes.

Zaytinya
Zaytinya---which means olive oil in Turkish---raises the tapas concept up a notch with a menu created by chef José Andrés, whose genius with his two Jaleo restaurants made tapas part of DC lingo. Startlingly dramatic in its simplicity and blue-on-white color scheme, the restaurant nonetheless feels as intimate and beckoning as the corner pub. Maybe it’s the boisterous crowds, or perhaps the cheek-to-cheek seating and the attentive service. Whatever the magic, busy Zaytinya is the source of outstanding mezze: we have dunked balloon-like pita into golden olive oil---the bread is readily replenished, and you’ll need plenty---and delved into little plates of soft-as-butter octopus in a red wine sauce; braised lamb with an eggplant purée---and the eggplant had the consistency of whipped cream; and Turkish chicken with cured Turkish-style loin of beef. We could have eaten far into the night, so smitten were we with the tastes and textures. But don’t fall into the trap of overeating entrées. Save room for pastry chef Steve Klc’s wondrous Mediterranean-inspired confections, which bring together such ingredients as dates, oranges, goat’s milk yogurt, and orange flower water. And be sure to sample the Greek wines from the restaurant’s extensive list. You may not know one label from another, but the waitstaff can help you make a sound selection. Because of its moderate prices, Zaytinya becomes a regular stop-off on anyone’s list. Gastronomes may even become daily visitors.
