| Kwame Densu Opare, the leader of DishiBem began studying West African dance with Traditional masters at the age of 13. At 14, he became a principle dancer with Kankouran West African Dance Company. In 1998, Kwame began touring with the off-broadway hit show “STOMP”. Kwame founded DishiBem in 2003 in an effort to bridge the gap between traditional West African and contemporary dance and music. |
