Every year on the third weekend of Sept. this sleepy little town comes alive with a festival of music, arts and crafts, parades, and great food. The best part of our festival though is our people. Our theme is that of another time. A time when things moved a little slower, a time when people took the time to visit with each other, but most of all a time when everybody enjoyed the life they had and the friends they shared.

The Folklife Festival is a unique Washington, DC tradition. However to keep this program alive, we rely on the support of our volunteers. We are still in need of volunteers for the festival this summer (June 23-27, June 30- July 4). This year is especially important because Washington, DC is one of the featured areas (in addition to El Rio and Tibet). "Heritage India" - A Festival of Indian tourism, art, culture and folk music will be held on June 15 and 16, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Gaithersburg, Md.

The Takoma Park Folk Festival continues to be an event by and for the community of Takoma Park, and its all-volunteer organizing committee and performers maintain the legacy of founder Sammie Abbott.

24th Annual Takoma Park Folk Festival is a free one-day event in Montgomery County, MD. It features six stages of music and dance, a crafts fair, international food, community tables, and children's activities. Location: Rt. 410 and Maple Avenue, Takoma Park, MD.
