In 1986 the National Symphony became the artistic affiliate of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the nation's center for the performing arts, where it has presented aregular concert season annually since the Center opened in 1971. The Orchestra itself numbers 100 musicians, presenting a 52-week season of approximately 175 concerts each year. A Community Chamber Orchestra founded in 1998 to provide an enjoyable playing opportunity for musicians in the Prince William County area, to provide creative and unique concerts for the community, and to strengthen the presence of the arts in our community.

Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic is a civil orchestra that performs its entire annual concert series of The Church of the Epiphany, 1317 G Street, NW in DC. The orchestra is known for unusual programming that includes world premieres and accessible contemporary works as well as standard repertoire. It is composed of about 65 members, 60% of whom are semi-professional or professional musicians. Concerts are presented on Sundays at 5PM.
