Lesbian and Gay Chorus of Washington, DC

The Lesbian & Gay Chorus of Washington, DC(LGCW)is a 30-voice, non-auditioned, consensus-governed, community-based chorus with over two decades of music-making in its history. The LGCW is (since April 2003) under the direction of C. Paul Heins. The chorus performs two major concerts each year (winter and spring), plus smaller performances throughout the year, including an annual concert on World AIDS Day, an annual Martin Luther King remembrance, and performances at local venues such as All Souls Unitarian Church and the Capital Pride Festival. The LGCW's repertoire includes music from various cultural, linguistic, and historical backgrounds. The chorus rehearses Tuesday evenings at St. James Episcopal Church on Capitol Hill. The LGCW is grateful for funding from individuals, from organizations such as the Capitol Hill Community Foundation and the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities / NEA, and from DC area businesses such as Capitol Hill Bikes and Hoopla Traders.The combined mission and vision statements of the LGCW are "Every voice matters...in a world that listens."Membership is open to all who love to sing, regardless of experience. The Takoma Park Singers

The Takoma Park Singers, located in Takoma Park, Maryland, is a mixed voice chorus that has been singing since 1970. We have two seasons each year. From September to December we prepare a ChristmasConcert that we perform at the Takoma Municipal Building and at several local retirement homes. From January to June we prepare an eclectic mix of show songs,folk tunes, spirituals and classical pieces -- both accompanied and a cappela -- that we perform at a variety of locations in Takoma Park, Md. and in the Washington DC area.

The Washington Kantorei

The Washington Kantorei is a non-profit community vocal ensemble dedicated to the performance of interesting and unusual music, with an emphasis on German works of the Baroque era. Many of these are edited by members of the ensemble from the original manuscripts, and are given their first performance in modern times. The Kantorei also performs modern-era composers with an emphasis on Europeans such as Rautavaara, Miskinis, Mauersberger, Busto, etc. The Washington Kantorei was founded in 1994 by its music director, Dr. Dale Voelker, and by local tenor and Telemann specialist, Dr. Robert Petillo. The group is open to singers of all voice types by audition.
