Founded in 1989, the Georgetown Chorale is a Washington, DC based non-profit organization dedicated to achieving musical excellence and providing community service. Recent past beneficiaries of the Chorale’s efforts include Lazarus House, Martha’s Table, Mentors Inc., and So Others Might Eat (S.O.M.E). The Chorale’s beneficiary for 2003 is Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic of Metropolitan Washington.

The Lesbian & Gay Chorus of Washington, DC(LGCW)is a 30-voice, non-auditioned, consensus-governed, community-based chorus with over two decades of music-making in its history. The LGCW is (since April 2003) under the direction of C. Paul Heins. The chorus performs two major concerts each year (winter and spring), plus smaller performances throughout the year, including an annual concert on World AIDS Day, an annual Martin Luther King remembrance, and performances at local venues such as All Souls Unitarian Church and the Capital Pride Festival. The LGCW's repertoire includes music from various cultural, linguistic, and historical backgrounds. The chorus rehearses Tuesday evenings at St. James Episcopal Church on Capitol Hill. The LGCW is grateful for funding from individuals, from organizations such as the Capitol Hill Community Foundation and the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities / NEA, and from DC area businesses such as Capitol Hill Bikes and Hoopla Traders.The combined mission and vision statements of the LGCW are "Every voice matters...in a world that listens."Membership is open to all who love to sing, regardless of experience. Founded in 1987 to showcase the beauty, spirit, diversity and power of American choral music, the Congressional Chorus has been honored to perform at many special events, including the inaugurations of Presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton, the Gala Benefit for the Preservation of the Capitol, the Kennedy Center Terrace Theatre, Arts Festivals and Millennium Stage, the "Christmas in Washington" show at the National Building Museum, and the White House Congressional Ball.

The Slavic Male Chorus of Washington DC has thrilled audiences with heartfelt interpretations of the folk songs and sacred hymns of Russia and many Slavic lands.

The Takoma Park Singers, located in Takoma Park, Maryland, is a mixed voice chorus that has been singing since 1970. We have two seasons each year. From September to December we prepare a ChristmasConcert that we perform at the Takoma Municipal Building and at several local retirement homes. From January to June we prepare an eclectic mix of show songs,folk tunes, spirituals and classical pieces -- both accompanied and a cappela -- that we perform at a variety of locations in Takoma Park, Md. and in the Washington DC area.

The Washington Kantorei is a non-profit community vocal ensemble dedicated to the performance of interesting and unusual music, with an emphasis on German works of the Baroque era. Many of these are edited by members of the ensemble from the original manuscripts, and are given their first performance in modern times. The Kantorei also performs modern-era composers with an emphasis on Europeans such as Rautavaara, Miskinis, Mauersberger, Busto, etc. The Washington Kantorei was founded in 1994 by its music director, Dr. Dale Voelker, and by local tenor and Telemann specialist, Dr. Robert Petillo. The group is open to singers of all voice types by audition.

Voices USA! is a professional a cappella ensemble based in the Washington, DC metro area. Voices USA! specializes in performing Patriot, Americana, Folk and other popular genres & styles dressed in 1760-1860 period costuming or formals.

The Washington Saengerbund is the Washington area's oldest German organization, founded in 1851. The German singing society performs concerts of German music and holds three large annual events -- Fasching (Mardi Gras), the area's most authentic Oktoberfest, and a Christkindlmarkt.

Now in its 30th year, Zemer Chai sings the full range of Jewish choral repertoire, including liturgical and classical pieces, Jewish folk music from around the world. The choir will be debuting several new commissioned pieces this spring. To arrange audition: info@zemerchai.org
