The Kennedy Center's "Find a Performance" site makes it simple for Kennedy Center patrons to search events by offering two search engine options: a monthly calendar and an alphabetical listing of current performances. Center for the Arts, George Mason University On the Fairfax campus of George Mason Univeristy, six miles west of the Beltway (I-495), intersection of Braddock Rd. and Route 123. Main stage venue is the 1,935-seat concert hall presenting over 30 events per season in classical, jazz and world music, opera, ballet and modern dance as well as theater and children's events. Other venues of the College of Visual and Performing Arts include TheaterSpace home to Mason's professional theater company, Theater of the First Amendment, performing three works per year with a concentration in new and critically-acclaimed works by often by local playwrights. The Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center is located at the University of Maryland, College Park. Current offerings include performances of chamber music, early music, jazz, world music, dance, and theater, featuring internationally renowned and emerging artists. The center's new facility, scheduled to open in 2001, will feature six outstanding performance venues--a 1100-seat concert hall, a 650-seat proscenium theater, a 300-seat recital hall and dance, studio, and experimental theaters.
